Johnson County Herb Society Minutes of July 15, 2006 Meeting
Thirteen members and guests toured the garden and home of member Sandra Berger, had a sack lunch and sampled desserts for the upcoming Dessert Cookbook.
The August Meeting will begin at the Cleburne Library at 10 a.m. August 19 for a 15 minute meeting. Members will car pool to Turkey Crossing (the Old Counts Feed Store on Island Grove Road.) Bring a sack lunch for a picnic in the Demonstration Garden.
October Symposium:
Esther reported that Judy Barrett will have a booth and will bring Hometown Gardening magazines to share.
Speakers are:
Lucy Darrell, 10:30 a.m. - How to Maintain Your Herb Garden
Judy Barrett, 11:30 a.m. - Antique Roses
Jay Metz of Rabbit Hill Farm, 1:30 p.m. - Organic Gardening and Soil Amendments
There will be demos throughout the show.
Raffle fund-raise for symposium:
A cedar potting bench has been added to the collection of items for the prize. Tickets are $5 each.
Sue Morgan is in charge of a booth at Antique Alley in September to sell raffle tickets. Members are asked to sign up to help at the booth. Possibly we can also sell tickets in front of Wal_Mart.
Covered dishes are needed for breakfast and lunch for the Vendor Hospitality Room.
At this time there is a possibility of 8 vendors. Booths are $25.
Dessert Cookbook:
Recipes are being collected for tested dessert recipes using herbs and spices. The cover will feature a gardener watering with a JCHS logo can holding a plate of desserts. Sue Morgan will draw the master for the cover.
T Shirts:
Debra Moore showed sample T Shirts and bags with JCHS logos. Several members ordered T Shirts. Members will wear the green Herbie T Shirts to work the October Symposium.
