Johnson County Herb Society Minutes, July 21, 2007

Pat Kreiner announced that Claudine Young had emergency surgery.

On July 28 Garey Wylie will give a talk on Earthkind Roses at MacGregor House in Cleburne. On August 9 Carl Cathey will speak on Organic Products at the Alvarado Public Library.

Feather Your Nest is a new nursery in Joshua offering native plants. It's at 307 N. Main Street in Joshua.

President Debra Moore announced that meetings will have a new format. The first 20 minutes will be for social time and buying raffle tickets. The meetings will start at 10:20 a.m.

Members were asked to fill out interest forms. Ethel and Esther will work together on membership. If you want a reminder of meetings, ask Ethel to call you.

Dues will be due in September instead of May. Esther will collect the dues, or you can drop them off at Sue Morgan's beauty shop, the Beauty Clinique, 204 N. Douglas in Cleburne. ($20 for one year.)

In August members will visit the Fort Worth Herb Society meeting at 10 a.m. August 18 at the Botanical Gardents in the room near the theater. Sue Morgan will put a note on the door of the library. Members may carpool with Sue Morgan from Cleburne or Esther Chambliss from South Fort Worth.

The herb of the month is Pineapple Sage.

Members are asked to bring dessert recipes for the recipe book by the February meeting. This book will be ready to sell at the spring garden show.

Treasurer Esther Chambliss reported that we have $806.92 in the checking account and $1093.31 in the savings account.

Raffle winners were Nancy Hagwood, Micki Nellis and Sally Porter.

Members watched a video on edible flowers, then Esther Chambliss used her portable hotplate to demonstrate how to make Rosemary Walnuts.
